Virtually any time of year you will find some baseball or softball going
on in Wayland. The spring program starts in April. No sooner is spring
baseball over when the summer leagues start at the end of June, with no
let up until August. There is a short break in the fall, but come the end
of December and going on until the end of March, you'll find folks
practicing their baseball and softball skills every Saturday night in the
Wayland Town Building gym. There's a program for everyone. Take a look!
Spring
You'll find us playing spring baseball from April through June. Our
leagues are formed based on the school grades of the players.
Registration
for these leagues is held from January through March.
The Opening Day Parade marks the beginning of the spring baseball season
here in Wayland. The parade is held in late April or early May, depending
on our New England weather!
Please check out the
Registration information
to see the exact days of the week each league will play.
Baseball Junior T-Ball
This league provides an introduction to baseball using a soft baseball and
is available to all kindergartners and beginning first graders. Kids will learn about
sportsmanship, teamwork, and safe play - catching and throwing, batting,
running the bases (and their names!), and playing the field (and the names of
the positions!). Teams play two evenings during the week from
6-7:30 p.m, and are coached by parents. Our philosophy: it's all for fun and
all for the kids.
Single A
This league is for first graders. Children will
learn the fundamentals of baseball by playing games with a good deal
of instruction from coaches. We stress positional play by having
each player play all the positions. This is a coach pitch league,
but a T may be used as needed. A Reduced Injury Factor (RIF)
ball is used. Teams play two evenings during the week from 6-7:30 p.m.
Double A
This league is for second graders Children will learn the
fundamentals of baseball by playing games with a
good deal of instruction from the coaches.
Coaches will pitch to the batters
and a Reduced Injury Factor RIF baseball is used.
Teams play two
evenings during the week from 6-7:30 p.m.
Triple A
This league is for third graders and is the first level in which
players pitch all the time.
A Reduced Injury Factor (RIF) ball is used. Teams play two evenings during the week
from 6-7:30 p.m.
Minors
This league is for fourth and fifth graders. They'll be using a Reduced Injury Factor (RIF) ball. Games
are played two evenings during the week at 6 pm.
Majors

this league depending on skill level and the number of team openings available.
Games are played on weekday evenings, three times a week, at 6 p.m.
Minuteman Baseball
This league is for grades 7 through 9, ages 13-15. Games are played on
full-sized fields. This is a competitive, inter-town league where we play
teams from neighboring towns. Home and away games are played on Saturdays and
Sundays beginning in April and continuing through the playoffs
in June.Teams may hold weeknight practices. Aditionally, 13 year old
players esperiencing the larger fields will have the opportunity to
play in controlled scrimmage games with 13-year olds from other towns
on weeknights throughout the season.
Softball Juniors
Affiliated with the Junior Olympic Amateur Softball Association, this league
is for grades 3, 4 and 5. The league is primarily developmental in preparation
for Senior Softball. We teach the fundamentals and basic skills of softball,
but we also have a lot of fun. There are instructional scrimmages
and games, held two evenings a week at 6 p.m.

commitment than Minuteman Baseball, and rosters are limited. As this is an all-star league,
coaches select the players, with input from spring coaches. There is no try-out.
